As far as I can remember a number of Hams of the A71 group have been operating Mobile since the early stage of the 90’s, A71BR, A71BI, A71EM plus I.
It also been noticed that out of all those been operating mobile activities been using the TS-50S, although it lucks today’s modern technologies and comes without an electronic keys, still this Kenwood manure radio proved to be capable of handling the mobile and portable Hams needs in a perfect manner.
To the TS-50 still and will remain my favorite radio and with my next winter portable and mobile activities it’s going to be my source Dxing.

I will appreciate any comments or views regarding this Radio and how compatible in its performance along with its AT-50 tuner.
Thank you and wishing you all of the best

The TS-50/AT-50 combo works really well. It's a nice little radio, doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some rigs, but most of those aren't really needed anyway.

I liked being able to mount the AT-50 out of sight, and control it from the rigs front panel. It seemed to work well, I never had a problem with it.

The only reason I got rid of my TS-50/AT-50 was to get a smaller rig, it was a bit crowded in my pickup. I went with a TS-480SAT, remote head, and an internal tuner. The DSP in the TS-480SAT is nice, but if it wasn't for space issues, I would still be using the TS-50.

Put a good antenna on your vechile, and you'll be set. Good luck with your mobiling.

I owned this rig since I joined this hobby in 2003

I'm not using this rig for the time being for some reasons

No electronic mores key connection

Standard Menu

but it's still with me and I have it in my station

it's really strong rig and works great with the AT-50

I wish that Kenwood modify this model and renew it to be available in the market again

I had an Icom 7000 in my car. Mobile operation really reignited my interest in DXing a few years ago.

I have to reinstall the radio sometime soon, hopefully before winter kicks in.
