This afternoon, I did the last thing in my mind to see if I could work out a whip antenna for the 80M.

I winded a coil on 40M Buxcomm mobile antennas whici is designed for 40M , the winding of the coil went all the way through from one end to anthor, soldered both ends and tested this expermintal antenna.

I have called A71CV and he made his best in assisting me to rewind the whip.

The antenna was tuned on 4.970MHZ, thats with the steal whip of tarheel on the top.

No more work on any of these antenna and tomorrow morning I will just do a normal half wave dipole for the 80M which I will use on Thursday while in my camp up south.

For the dipole, I bought a portable post from Diamon, AM385 which is sectionized and can go up to 4 meters high.

I also will make the coax connection using a female UHF plug mounted on one of those light plastic boxes and the box will be covered to prevent moving sands getting through the wiring.

I hope this time, I can do CW contacts on 80M.

With the great work done by A71BR and his advance design for the 80M antenna, I finally managed to activate the 80M this evening and worked 8 different Euro stations with different radio reports, although the antenna was on a test base and in a much closed area still it made a great job.

I must also thank A71EM who have given us the real push by given us the first qso with a local station on this new antenna and also by spotting us.

The antenna is like a simple dipole of 20M legs each side but with very tactical sport and connection unit which makes it an easy to mount for a portable.

I was operating it from a mobile rig and I was very happy to see the result.

For sure as soon as the sun rise, I will be going for another one to cover 160M portable also.

Thanks to the Diamond telescopic post and to a chimes tripod and a German Electrical switching closed box.

I will only post the photos of this antenna when I am and A71BR up south on Thursday.
